Made to measure
custom tailoring is the very foundation of thom browne, whose business began in 2003 with five grey suits in a made-to-measure shop in new york city’s west village. with each jacket and trouser, he added a grey cardigan, a white oxford shirt, a grey tie, silver tie bar, and classic black brogues. the jacket was sharply tailored with a high armhole fit. the trouser was hemmed at the ankle. this is the thom browne uniform.
today, thom browne made-to-measure for men and women is the pinnacle of our in-store service and the purest expression of browne’s tailoring vision, available at select store locations around the world. classic tailoring can be customized in a wide variety of core and seasonal fabrics, including our signature super 120s, 3-ply mohair, fresco, and school uniform as well as a range of shirting from oxfords to poplin, seersucker, and flannels. tailoring is now available in fits 1, 2, and 3 for men and women.
made to measure SERVICE
made-to-measure elevates the quintessential tailoring experience and offers a superior fit, with a pattern adapted to each body shape, allowing more alteration possibilities than ready-to-wear.
individuality is in the details; with a choice of tabs, trims, buttons, lining, tipping, and lapels to create a unique combination that is the ultimate signature. the finishing touch is a personalized 4-bar label, handwritten in-store.
the thom browne made-to-measure process takes approximately five to eight weeks from initial to final fitting before it’s ready to ship.
