ten women and ten men arrive by thom browne school bus. dressed in thom browne’s classic grey jacket and grey pleated skirt, grey tie, grey cardigan, white oxford shirt, and longwing brogues with black four-bar socks, and carrying identical thom browne black pebbled leather hard briefcases, they are a living tableaux of uniformity and repetition.
fall in line. backs straight. eyes forward. thom browne eyewear at twelve o’clock.
crisply folded white pocket square at three o’clock. briefcase at seven o’clock, two top buttons buttoned and a flash of grosgrain, ties clipped.
now that we’re all set, let’s move.
step-by-step, 57th, 58th, 59th, fifth avenue. the percussion of black leather brogues on pavement. the whoosh of pleated grey tailoring.
